Ted Cruz, Republican, Texas, U.S. Senator.

Rafael Edward Cruz, 44,  seeks to position himself as the most conservative member of a very conservative field of Republican candidates for President of the United States of America. (POTUS.)  Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  His parents worked in the oil industry, and moved to Houston, Texas as a child. A very bright young  economics.man, at age 13 he enrolled in an after school program, the merits of free market economics.  However, his true love was the U.S. Constitution.  At Princeton he was a national debate champion, and attended Harvard Law.  He was recommended for a Supreme Court Clerk. He served under Chief Justice William Rehnquist.  His father was a Cuban revolutionary who fought against Batista, fled to U.S.  with $100.00 sewn in his underware launched an oil business.  Now is an itinerant minister with a fervent Tea Party following.

Cruz is an ardent campaigner, crisscrossing the Bible Belt Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma.  He has raised in excess of $50 Million Dollars a total ranking second only to Jeb Bush.  Cruz states, “I grew up a movement conservative.  That’s who I am. I don’t have to fake it!”  He is as disciplined performer as anyone in politics.  His stump speech, delivered without notes or teleprompter, is precisely honed, down to the jokes and pauses for emphasis. He is relentlessly on message.

His campaign is to change the Republican Party  to Conservativism.  “That’s what is at stake!”

We will watch and see.

“Political Correctness” is a Disease?

“Political Correctness, is a term that has grown in usage over the past 8 years, it has a questionable origination, and has been abused, used, misused by the liberals of this country. “We must not say anything that may possibly offend someone”  WHY?

Isn’t this a country founded upon “free speech, freedom of expression?” I believe that we must not permit this abuse to continue, to travel down this road leads to oblivion. I have noticed in my travels to speak to students in elementary high school and colleges ,it is a huge problem, being “politically correct” that has affected most school text books, whereby they place “political correctness” ahead of accuracy!.  I received information from a school teacher in North Carolina, that a bill has been introduced in the legislature to “begin teaching American history with Abraham Lincoln,” presumably because early Presidents may have had slaves!  Really?  YES, REALLY!

For years Barack Hussein Obama has employed “p.c”” ad nauseam, to a sickening degree over and over again!  Example – he refuses to use the word “terrorists” when referring to the barbaric thugs ISIS, or if you prefer ISIL..to be “P.C.”.

It seems to me that the “nuts are in charge of the asylum.”  P.C. is a disease of the brain, just as the expression “you know,” A few months ago I watched one Phil Jackson, Coach of the Los Angeles Laker basketball team in an interview on ESPN say in response to question – “To what do you attribute your teams season?”  Response, “Well, you know, we should have done better, you know, and Kobe Bryant does his thing, you know, and he, you know was injured, you know, and the team was affected, you know, you know I guess that is it.”  I counted 27 times he used “you know,” during a 2 minute interview!!

Don’t you know that is ridiculous and absurd?  Our young people pick it up and use it the same way in all of their discussions, to the point that nobody knows what they are saying, you know!  (Just injecting a little humor.)

It reached such levels that I actually called FOX NEWS and complained that members of their T V staff used it, including SEAN HANNITY!

COME ON AMERICA!  WE CAN/MUST DO BETTER THAN THIS!!!!

Are you tired of “Professional Politicians?”

This question arises frequently since the arrival of one DONALD TRUMP on the USA political scene!

“ARE YOU TIRED OF PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS WHO PROMISE YOU ONE THING WHILE RUNNING FOR OFFICE, ONLY TO BREAK THAT PROMISE ONCE ELECTED?”

A good example is the majority of Congressional Republicans (GOP) who ran on the promise to “…defeat/over turn Obama Care.”  Another promise unfulfilled was “…to reduce taxes and spending on ridiculous projects…”

I contend that the majority of Americans are sick and tired of the same old, same old BALONEY!  They are fed up with the “status quo,” they are fed up with the “professional politician,” who begs, bargains and pleads so they can eat at the pigs trough again! Just take a look at Washington, D.C., all the new suits and big cars that they bought the day after election!

I believe that is why Americans are flocking to see DONALD TRUMP in PERSON!  Over 30,000 appeared in a football stadium in Alabama to see and hear him speak! He did not disappoint, Red Cap and all, on national TV, telling them like it truly is….and not the same old “pablum” that all the other candidates drool.

If you disagree, please tell why!  I am receiving requests for information/opinion and I seek to stay informed!

GOP HAS CANDIDATES?

The last time I checked, The Grand Old Party (GOP) had candidates coming out the WAZOO! Never before in the history of mankind has one party had so many candidates running for President! Republicans have been well served by a strong stomach, as the roller coaster is moving rapidly!

Let me count the names, (not in any order.) RUBIO, BUSH, TRUMP, CHRISTY, WALKER, CRUZ, FIORINA, HUCKABEE, JINDAL, PAUL, PERRY, CARSON, PATAKI, ETC., ETC. (And numerous other regional wannabees.)

Every one has a website, and the first word you see is “DONATE.” This running for President thing must be financially rewarding! I have been in the great game of politics since I was 20 years old, and never have so many folks with little or no credentials run for President.  But, I guess, if a “neighborhood organizer,” with no record, can run and win, then I guess anyone can!

So hang in there all you folks, and if you need an expert consultant, I am available!

“Daddy Kng and Me.”

Over the past few months, I have been requested to speak at various and sundry type functions, Civil Rights, Politics, Elections, Awards, Colleges, the subject seems to arrive at the “Daddy” King doorstep. Why did you, a white man decide to write this book? Why? Why? Why?
To me, the response is always the same, “I had the unique experience of being a close friend and confidant to one of the great men of the Twentieth Century!” Perhaps one of the most unique relations in modern history. He was the exact same age as my Father, I am the exact same age as his oldest son, Martin Luther King, Jr. We were introduced by Rev. Fred C. Bennette, Jr., in Atlanta, after I received publicity as the General Counsel of the Georgia Department of Labor, having led the change in compensation laws for the United Automobile Workers in Georgia. After the introduction, several weeks passed and Rev. Bennette asked me “…if I would be comfortable calling him Dad?” I assured him that it would be “…high honor and a personal privilege.”
From that day forward, until his death on November 11, 1984. we chatted at least several times a week, and met at least once a week, the highlight being our weekly luncheons at the Marriott Hotel in the heart of downtown Atlanta, which we experienced for three and one half years.
The single most important impression I want to leave the reader is that history has not paid Martin Luther King, Sr., his due. If the civil rights movement had a father, it was Daddy King, in the same way he was father to his son.

We faced his three tragedies together, Martin Luther King, Jr. murder; A.D. King drowning; and the murder of “Mama” King while she was seated at the organ in Ebenezer Church on Sunday morning.  In baseball, three strikes and you are out!  For Daddy King they were super-human challenges, which he met with dignity and grace.
To look back at the “Black Church,” over the past one hundred years is to recall some of the most important moments in history, fight for education, battle for civil rights, quest for women’s rights-the church was more than a place of worship, it was a school, theatre, community center, meeting place, political engine, and in each category Daddy King was the vanguard, at the forefront, leading the charge.
Without him, it would have been a very different century in America.

“Bo Peep” – I remember him well!

Yes, I remember him well! “Bo Peep,” the never-to-be-forgotten, legendary character that lived in Savannah, Imperial State of Chatham, Georgia!  He was born October 25, 1899…died July 7, 1963. Hardly a week passes by without someone, somewhere asking me about “the little man.” Black, white, yellow, red, rich, poor, Jew, Christian, Buddist…it doesn’t really matter, they all have either known him personally or “…heard tell of him.” He owned and operated a restaurant, bar, pool room, hotel, package shop on the entire one-half of Congress Street at intersection of Drayton Street, in the heart of downtown Savannah, for approximately 25 years.  It was the mecca for men.  It was home to many.  It was paradise to a few. It was said “When I die, I don’t want to go to heaven, I want to go to Bo Peep’s” Honestly, there never was a place like his before, and will never be again.  They tore down paradise to put a parking lot!  Bo Peep’s kitchen produced the finest, tastiest, Roast Beef Sandwich on the planet! Thick slices of medium-rare, premium Roast Beef covered with thick brown gravy on white bread,  that brought tears to your eyes, it was so good,  some said,”… it…made you wanna beat yo’ mama..”  What was it that kept people coming to his place for all those years?  Him!  He loved people, he loved the “action,” where you could bet any amount that you can count on any game you can name! Demonstrated his concern for his fellow-man by contributing to churches of every denomination, synagogues, hospitals, orphan homes, schools.  Before there was a United Way, there was Bo Peep.  Up every morning, seven days a week at 7:00 A.M., dressed, and ready for the events of the day.  Where did he get that drive and desire? He was one of five children, whose parents operated a tiny store at the foot of West Broad Street, (Now Martin Luther King, Jr. ) Quit school in the third grade to shine shoes for a living.  Determination to succeed, overcome handicaps, improve his condition and that of his family, to give them more and better than he received, not only his wife and four children but all of his family and hers.  In short, Money! It was the mark of success by which he thought others evaluated him.   Honest, kind; earned a little, spent a little less, to make on the whole a family happier for his presence. (I hope you will continue to monitor this “blog” daily as I re-visit Bo Peep. For those interested in his story, I published a book in 2003, “This Bo Peep Ain’t No Fairy Tale!” a few copies still available-  $21.95.)
